ADULT PROGRAMS
BBP believes that everyone should have access to quality affordable bikes, repair, and education regardless of income. BBP makes this access attainable for teens and adults through several of its adult programs.
SHIFTING GEARS
Shifting Gears is a partnership program with the Idaho Department of Corrections. Adults in custody earn a bicycle for their future release by fixing bicycles to be gifted to kids in the community through our BASH (Bicycle and Safety Hour) events and Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway. Eligible women are invited to attend BBP’s volunteer nights, as well as additional special events- providing them the opportunity to enhance their mechanical skills and have a presence in the shop as invaluable volunteers. BBP has programs with South Boise Women’s Correctional Center.
ADULT WORK TRADE
For those lacking necessary funds, BBP offers a 1 for 1 (1 hour of work = 1 hour of shop time) work trade program. Used parts can be acquired through work trade (1 hour of work = $17 of parts/supplies). Participants can work for up to 2 hours per day.
To participate in work trade, participants must bring their bicycle to the shop during open hours. BBP staff will assess how much work time is needed in exchange for repair.
